Living Room at Marshall and Sarah’s house

Living Room at Marshall and Sarah’s house (on Broadway at the bypass, where Louis stayed when at Western Kentucky University) in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The occasion was a party for the young people in Marshall’s church. Louis was a Junior or Senior at Western Kentucky University. In the picture is Louis (2nd from left in back row) then Marshall Owen. Sarah is in the front row second from the left. The rest are kids from Marshall’s Church.

Louis got a paper route when he was 12 years old (here in 1941) and he sold war stamps to his customers (some were 25 cents). The badge had something to do with that. If he sold some amount of stamps he got a little shield to wear. With additional sales he got bars to go below the shield. The paper route was for an evening paper, The Louisville Times.
